Can you in an iview select an image file from KM and see thumbnails?

Hi you all!

The above question isn't quite comlete, it's a part missing: "Can you in an iview select an image file from KM and see thumbnails in the selection dialogue?"

Background: If you want to upload a picture into the KM you first choose "Folder > New > Upload" and then you press "Select". Then an ordinary Windows selection dialogue opens up. Here you can choose if you want to see the content as icons, a list or as a detailed list.

Problem: If you in an own developed iview wants to select an image file from KM to use in your application/iview, and further more wants to see the files as thumbnails in the selection dialogue, how do you do that? Is it possible to do by standard features or is it possible to do at all?

Best regards

Hi,

Have a look at this document. This might be helpful for you!

Hi PG.

The problem I'm facing is that the customer has a long list of employees, a couple of hundred rows, and the name is part of their employee numbers, not their real names. So it's really by the picture you pick your choice.

This makes it almost a necessity to see thumbnails of the users in the selection iview, in this case the search iview in the document. The document doesn't say anything about the possibilities to tweak the iview regarding this and hence I have to go back to my original question if you could tweak a KM iview to show thumbnails.

Hello Benny,

you could use xml forms, where you have several documents with the pictures of the employees on each document, then display those forms as a grid list simulating thumbnails, then the user could pick any employee by the picture and access other informations stored on the documents. Bad part is that it's necessary to input all the data into the newly created xml

Hi,

one workaround will be to use the iview template called "iview KM navigation".

In Content administration, in the PCD right click to create a new iview "from template", and select the template "KM navigation iview".

You can add the parameters "initial folder" to make it start at the folder you want to.

Hi Fabien.

But can you call this KM iview through a button in your own developed iview and can you make use of the selection you do in the KM iview in your own iview?

Best regards
