How to define delimiter between display fields?

Is there a way to define/control the delimiter used between fields marked as displays fields? Seems the default is a comma. If I have a Lookup \[Hierarchy] (multi-value) table with 2 fields which are both display fields. In my Lookup field which points to this table, if I select a lookup record it is displayed as <field1 value>, <field2 value>.
