Foreign currency conversion - shopping cart

Hi! I would like to find out whether the following behaviour is standard.

When the shopping cart was created in a foreign currency, the system will use the latest rate to convert to the company code currency and this is shown as the shopping cart TOTAL value. When we view the shopping cart on a different day whereby the latest rate is updated, we will see a different value on the shopping cart OVERVIEW screen. The value on the INITIAL screen is still showing the last saved value using the old rate. If the approver approves the shopping cart at that point in time, the system would have updated the shopping cart with the latest rate. In summary, the latest rate will be used when the PO is eventually created.

My question: Is it right for the system to display the total value using the old rate on the INITIAL screen?

I have been through the OSS notes but cannot find anything relevant to this.

Appreciate your comments on this.

It looks like it is a bug and SAP is providing a solution for this.

Hi SF,

To my knowledge, it is a standard system behaviour. The Total value cannot change once a shopping cart is created on a particular date at a particular xchg rate.

I think this is the same case for a PO in R/3 as well. A PO value created on a particular date at a particular rate does not pick a new xchg rate when changed later on a different date (where the xchg rate differs from the previous).

Similarly, the subsequent PO from the shopping cart too has inherits the same shopping cart value regardless of the xchg rate on the date of PO creation.

Experts may pitch in if my version is contrary.

Hi! It seems that the behaviour in R3 is different from SRM. I can accept that fact that the rate changes on the order. The issue is more with the fact that the initial screen will show one rate (old one) and the detail screen will show another rate (new one). Eventually, the new rate will be used once the shopping cart is saved again.
