Is MDM ABAP API's required for SRM or ECC

Hello All

We have recently installed SRM - MDM 2.0 SP01 for our SRM 5.0 System.

However SRM instance is on ABAP and on its own instance. While the MDM 5 SP05 is on its own ABAP/J2EE instance, along with SRM MDM.

(Environment is HP-UX, Oracle and all have the latest support packs)

Now we want to know if MDM ABAP API's are required. I have seen all the documents on SDN and SAP Service Market place, but I am a little puzzled.

The questions are;

1.) wouldn't the MDM component need to be installed first?

2.) and normally MDM technical component is required to be on the ECC/R3 systems?

3.) or can we put the tech. comp. on the SRM system?

Hi Danial,

You can have MDM and SRM Servers on different machines and no matter whether MDM should be installed first or SRM. This is how the scenario works.

1. Both the systems are installed i.e. SRM and MDM.

2. UnArchive the SRM-MDM repository shipped with the SRM-MDM installables and you can modify it as per the needs.

3. Extract the SRM data using XI no need for ABAP APIs, SAP has given tranactions for both Lookup as well as Main table records.

4. Once you get the data into MDM system configure the WebService in SRM system.

Thing is both the Systems should be in same landscape and should able to communicate.
