Account Assignment Group & Customer Group Query

Hi SD Experts,

What is actually the purpose of a customer group? Just to differentiate the types of customers? Is there any other additional settings besides maintaining customer group in OVS9?

What is actually the purpose of an account assignment group? Just to differentiate the types of revenue? Is there any other additional settings besides maintaining account assignment group in OVK8?

    hello,friend.

    the system allows you to set different prices for different customers according to customer groups. for example you have 2 groups: regular and special. you can set price for material A1234 as $50 for regular customers, and $45 for special. you can also set different discounts/surcharges this way.

    account assignment groups allow you to post revenues, costs, taxes, etc. to different GL accounts based on different combinations of customer and material. for example, you want revenues from domestic customers ordering low value goods posted to GL acct 1001010. you want domestic customers ordering high value goods posted to 1001020. you can then conduct analyses using the GL accounts postings.

    S.D account determination in VKOA settings happens thro

    1.Sales org

    2.Account assignment group of the material in MMR

    3.Account assignment group of the Customer in CMR

    4. Acoount KEY

    5. Chart of accounts

    If any one of these parameters is missing the account determination cant happen in t code VKOA

    Account assignment group of the material in MMR Account assignment group of the Customer in CMR is very very important

    Customer group is mainly taken as field for maintaining price condition records in normal practise

    Like you want apply a discount of 10% to certain customers for all their orders then you group allthese customers in 1 group say 01 and maintain condition records

    Hello LEE !!

    As you said it correctly, Customer Group is defined to differentiate the different type of Customer. Tcode OVS9 is used to create Customer Groups and you have to assign these Cust Group in:--

    Customer Master Data > Sales Area Tab > Sales view

    Cust Group maintained in Cust Master will automatically Appear into the sales documents at header and item level.
