hello, ask comm.

1. FOC - using this order type, the material items are not relevant for billing. you may or may not reference this to another order, and you don't have to create free goods condition records. you don't have to manually change the item category from standard to free goods item. usually, there is also an automatic delivery block, which should be released by an authorized party. an example scenario when using this order type is when you want to send free samples to your customers.

2. service - in general, the billing in this transaction is order-related. the item is a service material and usually not relevant for delivery. revenue recognition may be specified under certain scenarios.

3. repair - if i recall correctly, in this order there is both a service and a repair item. so some items are relevant for delivery. billing will still be order-related. here, revenue is recognized once service has been confirmed. the output type is such that when you save the order, a message is sent via SAP workplace to the repairs department/personnel. there may be a PM counterpart to a repair order, which bypasses SD, and where you can also track equipment status.

regards.

happy deepavali...

p.s.

are you ABAP or MM consultant? may need help from you. will post at the proper forum. thanks.

Apart from what Jonathan's explanation, We can narrowly differentiate the service order to repair order where service order is used for external customers while repair order is used for internal purpose where in a plant, to carry out repair works.

Service Order Procesing is used to handle short-term agreements between a customer and a service provider, in which the customer orders one-off services.

Such an order could be, for example, to maintain or repair some equipment making it necessary to send a technician along with spare parts. These services are usually billed. The service order is also used to schedule resources and plan availability of spare parts and can include extra expenses like travel expenses, required to execute service jobs

thanks
