Hello, SAP Experts,
New System: BW on HANA
OS: IBM Power Linux 64bit
Old external non-SAP system: Sybase database
Now we would like to connect external Sybase database with BW on HANA . The BW application server is residing on IBM Power Linux. How should we do? also use which connection method?
Shall we use ASE SDK version in order to connect to SAP ASE from ODBC-based applications?

Thank you!

I would suggest a slightly different approach.
Looking at ASE tables from HANA is by using proxy table mechanism.
Any queries that join tables across servers are bound to be slow.
Instead if you can populate equivalent tables on HANA side by a mechanism like replication server (almost real time changes can be seen)
or batched copy of data for the set of tables.
Replication route will need some upfront set up work but will be good long term solution.
This way queries on HANA side will not slow down due data access across servers.

Whats a "non-SAP system: Sybase database" ?
Sybase is aka "SAP ASE"

SAP ASE for Business Suite = SAP Systems - ABAP and/or Java Application Servers - (ERP, CRM, SRM, Solution Manager, etc) running on SAP ASE ("Sybase database" ). For ABAP stacks, there is also an integration at ABAP coding level (ie DBA Cockpit).
SAP ASE for custom applications = non-SAP systems running on SAP ASE. Used by historical Sybase customers with their own applications.
Hey there,
I would suggest to integrate your Hana with Sybase using SDA/SDI.
You can check SAP Note 1868209 - SAP HANA Smart Data Access: Central Note
