date quotation in another language

Hello,

I want the date quotation (with day of the week) in another language then the installation language in my raport.

Monday, 16 March 2008 -->in to french : Lundi, 16 mars 2008

Please let me know... if it is possible.

A nice answer came by

Hi,

What you can do is

Create a Formula to extract the Day and Month from the date and then using those values show equivalent values in french for Day Month and Year

So Something like this

If Day is Monday then display the value for Monday in French

If Month is March then display the value of Mars

so you will have to check Monday-Friday and then All months from Jan-Dec and display the equivalent in French.....

Cheers

But now the question how to do.

I have a database field wich contains a date (dd/mm/yyyy)

How can i program this in a formula.

Please (re-)help me.

    Kees,

Best would be to create a formula for the day names and month names. These formulas can be used in the entire report.

The language could even be set in a parameter field, so the language will be asked before running the report. In this way, the language can be arranged in the day names formula and month formula:

    IF {?Language} = "English" THEN
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=1 THEN "Sunday" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=2 THEN "Monday" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=3 THEN "Tuesday" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=4 THEN "Wednesday" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=5 THEN "Thursday" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=6 THEN "Friday" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=7 THEN "Saterday" ELSE
    IF {?Language} = "Francais" THEN
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=1 THEN "Dimanche" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=2 THEN "Lundi" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=3 THEN "Mardi" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=4 THEN "Mercredi" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=5 THEN "Jeudi" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=6 THEN "Vendredi" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=7 THEN "Samedi" ELSE
    IF {?Language} = "Deutsch" THEN
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=1 THEN "Sonntag" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=2 THEN "Montag" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=3 THEN "Dienstag" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=4 THEN "Mittwoch" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=5 THEN "Donnerstag" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=6 THEN "Freitag" ELSE
         IF DayOfWeek({DateField}=7 THEN "Samstag"

The same should be done for the month names.

    After this, the date could be displayed as {@Dayname} & ", " & Day( & " " & {@Monthname} & " " & Year(
