Material listing or exclusion based on division

Hi,

I have a requirement that some customer should not buy certain division materials and should buy certain division materials only. Here I cannot maintain customer/material combination as no of materials are huge. I have tried material listing/exclusion for the customer and material division. I have done the all standard configuration correctly. But still it is not working. I doubt material division level it will not work. Did anyone tried as this and confirm me that will this combination work?

Hi,

In addition to my reply above for scenario/case 1 you need to understand how the customer and material master data has been maintained in the system. If common division functionality is used then the solution might not be that straight forward, and in this case you would be easier to use material exclusion.

Hi Srithar,

As I understand you have more than one division in your system (and I believe more than one sales area) and both customer and material master data is maintained.

When you say "some customer should not buy certain division materials"

1. Does this mean that these customers shouldn't be able to buy any material from those division?

Or

2. They are restricted from buying certain material from those division and they can buy rest of the materials from those division?

Solution:

If its Scenario/Case 1(mentioned above): No need to use material listing/exclusion. Solution is not to maintain customer master data for the sales area (sales area with restricted division) and in case the master data is already maintained then block the customer for that sales area (sales area with restricted division). With this system will not allow sales order creation.

If its Scenario/Case 2: then you can use material exclusion, to restrict the materials which customer shouldn't buy, while rest of the materials are allowed to be purchased. And the config of material exclusion needs to be at material level and not at division level.
