Migration of Bulk data to C4C

Former Member

Hi Experts,

We are planning to migrate close to a million BP data from ISU to C4C. I am aware that we can do using on of the following ways.

1. Data migration tool with the available templates (or)

2. Using the web-services available between ISU and C4C.

But I would like to understand few things to chose the best of the above available methods.

Please help with the same.

Questions:

Data Migration Tool:

1. What is the maximum number of records that can be processed through a single template file.?

2. Can we do more than one file processing at a time?

3. What will be the impact on the C4C system if we do such a bulk upload through data migration tool?

4. When I chose the communication system radio button when I upload the template with the data and process the file will there be check in the chosen system to see if the customer is there or not?

Through IFlows\ web-services between C4C and ISU:

1. If I pass the number range of the BPs in the BD12 tcode and execute the transaction, will the load distribution of the work processes from all the applications servers be done?

2. Will this create a single IDOC containing all the BPs or will there be a IDOC for each customer?

3. Because of this bulk data migration from BD12 which creates IDOCs for such huge data will there be performance impacts?

Also please share any best practices documents that are available when we are to do such a bulk data migration to SAP C4C.

Thank you all for the help in advance.

Regards,

Indra

Hello Indra,

PFB my response in bold against each question:

Data Migration Tool:

1. What is the maximum number of records that can be processed through a single template file.? => I believe its 100 MB of data per file, please double check in the Introduction/Documentation sheet of the DM template.

2. Can we do more than one file processing at a time? => You can, however, best practice would be to process one file at a time, that way the monitoring and resolving issues and tracking them will be much easier.

3. What will be the impact on the C4C system if we do such a bulk upload through data migration tool? => The system is designed to handle buld load using the DM workbench, so no critical impact, only thing to keep in mind is to avoid any users being online in the system while the load is happening.

4. When I chose the communication system radio button when I upload the template with the data and process the file will there be check in the chosen system to see if the customer is there or not? => There is a log that is generated both for number of records and the actual data being imported as soon as the final migration step is completed in the DM workbench.

Through IFlows\ web-services between C4C and ISU:

1. If I pass the number range of the BPs in the BD12 tcode and execute the transaction, will the load distribution of the work processes from all the applications servers be done? => This s hould be consulted with your BASIS/DB team and the mass loads performed accordingly.

2. Will this create a single IDOC containing all the BPs or will there be a IDOC for each customer? => For each BP number, there will be one IDOC that will be created when you run Tcode BD12.

3. Because of this bulk data migration from BD12 which creates IDOCs for such huge data will there be performance impacts? => There are few best practices which should be followed to have minmum impacts due to mass loads, also consult with your BASIS team and keep them in loop when performing mass loads.

Here is the link for Best Practices document for optimal performance during data loads:

Hope the above feedback helps!
