Project Builder:

Using Project Building u can perform various function of PS

1. Create Project Structure (WBS & Activties)

2. Scheduling

3. Generate Material requirement by assignning Material to the activities.

4. Activity based Cost Planning

etc.

Costing Sheet:

This for Overhead calculation.

Costing Varinat: (Planned / Actual)

The costing variant controls how the costing is to be carried out. With it, you control:

Whether the costing results are to be regarded as plan costs or actual costs

Which prices are used to value the materials, internal activities and external activities

How overhead surcharges are calculated

Overhead Key:

For example, overhead calculation for a material X varies form Plant P1 to P2 . Using overhead key u can control this.

Planned Cost Calculation:

Based on data (work, activity type etc.) maintained in activity, Planned cost is calculated.

Costing Sheet

Used to calculate the indirect cost. For example u have material which is to be procured at 100/-

100 is the direct cost...but Purchasing Deparmement incurs some cost to procure this material. Which is indirect cost. U can distribute this cost using Costing Sheet.

Base Price: material cost = 100

Pruchase Overheads: 10% of Material Cost. = 10

Total Cost: 110

U define above calculation in costing sheet.

Costing Varinat:

When I attach the material in the Project, which prices system should determine i.e. standard price or moving average price maintained in the material master for planned cost calculation is maintained in Costing Varinat.

Planned Cost Calculation:

There is a internal act. which requires 100hrs. 100hrs is maintained in "Work" field and it cost $10/hr which is maintain in Activity Type. Based on this system calculates the planned cost i.e.$1000.

Project Builder is one of the standard tools available in SAP. It's main functions include:

You can use the Project Builder to create or change project objects (project definition, WBS elements, activities, activity elements, PS texts, documents, milestones, and material components).

You can either create operative project structures (WBS or N/W) manually or take standard structures (Std. WBS or Std N/w) as templates

You can include WBSs, standard WBSs & Std N/W in existing project structure

When creating projects, you can copy an operative project or a standard project, including all subordinate objects.
