Qualifications Date

Is there anyway to adjust the qualifications End Date such that it is not delimited to the end of a persons contract or the date they are terminated from the company. This poses a problem to our system such that if an employee is rehired, their qualifications do not appear on record for their new hire date/termination date, because the qualifications end date was delimited by the employee's previous termination date.
