MRP Query

Hello All,

We have one requirement as below.

I have one material in 4 plants with same as storage location in all plants . In this scenario when i run the MRP for the plant 1 and the the requirement for that plant is some 20pcs. for that plant 1 storage location it has some 10 pcs. So at this point it will genereate the planned order for that plant. Also the other storage location has 20pcs each in its location.

We are running plant wise MRP. But my client req. is like this. when he run the MRP for the plant one with the req. for 20 pcs even though he dont has sufficient stock in his storage location. It should consider the other plant storage location also.

Is there any way to Map this scenario? Thanks in advance.

My conf. settings as below

Plant 1 storage location x stock 10pcs

Plant 2 storage location x stock 20pcs

Plant 3 storage location x stock 20pcs

Plant 4 storage location x stock 20pcs

Dear,

Please try tis,

MRP = 1- exclude SL from MRP in MRP4 view, then system will not consider the stock for any caluation

SL MRP = 2- seperate MRP for SL, so that system will consider the stock and requirement for that storage location

In transaction OMIR, choose your plant & then for the storage location you want to exclude from MRP enter 1 (exclude from MRP)

I will explain my req. again in detail

I have the four plants with different storage locations.

Plant 1 Plant 2 Plant 3 Plant 4 (Same Material is in all plants)

S1 S2 S3 S4

Normally I run the MRP for the Plant 1 is my planning plant it will check its plant 1 storage location and it generate the PR or PO if the stock is insufficient. It will not check for the other plants storage location.

MRP should check the other plant storage location also. Is there any possible way to meet this req.

Hi Ganesh,

I don't think it is possible. As you know MRP is carried out plant wise.

And During MRP it will not check available stock in other plants.

But by using Special Procurement key it will generate PR for procurement of material from other plant.But in this case you want to consider all 4 plants for availability check..

Dear,

MRP for one material will not consider the stock on other Plant.

If you have activated MRP area then you can run MRP by storage location.

It will solve your problem.

Hi,

You can try with str location MRP area. Assign all str location in this MRP area (S1,S2,..)

When you create demand for this MRP area, system check the stock in all str location which is assigned in MRP area, if stock is not available system will create planning proposal.

Thanks for prompt reply from all.

Yes i read the SAP help for MRP area material req. planning. And i foud the information message on that as Material requirements planning with MRP areas cannot be reversed.

It is advisible to go with this MRP area MRP? Also please give the steps followed to create the MRp area. And how this storage location is assigned to mrp area.

Because i tried to assign the storage location to mrp area it is allowing only one storage location. Any think i am missing?
