Workflow mails failing due to Recepient size in SOST

Hi All,

My workflows are failing due to the recepient length in SOST, it was only 35 characters. Is there any way to increase the length?. It was happening like this, is a person mail id length is more than 35 characters including @ company.com, appearing in SOST xyzxyzxyzxyzxyzxyzxyzxyzxyzxyzxyz@ab instead of person@abc com , so there is no mail going to the person. Please help.

Thanks in advance...

VT.

Well this indeed is something new.

VT there is one workaround. You will need the help of the mail server administrator.

The idea is to create a short email id for all such users and set an auto forward to their actual long email ids "at the mail server level"

So it works like this

1. Original mail id - abc...xyz@domain (more than 35 chars)

2. Create a short email id abc@domain

3. At mail server set an autoforward rule from abc@domain to abc...xyz@domain

Hope this helps.

Thanks Sudhir,

You mean there is no solution if the mail id length exceeds 35 chars?

Hi VT,

thats really new to me, as I didnt know that more than 35 chr would create a problem.

Have you checked if there is any Enhancement Spots available, where you can add a piece of code and increase the length in SOST.

If you get one, you would be done.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Hari,

Yes i know that mail id length is 241 and i defined the same length in my BO's. But when it comes to SOST, recepient field ( referring to structure SOXSP-RECADRNAM ) was 35 chars only, where can we do increase the length of this.

Email id length is not 35 as you given in the problem. if you check SU01 where you maintain email id of the user it shows 241 char.

Data element length AD_SMTPADR char 241. reason your problem is when you defined in BO's you may defined the length like that. you can change that and try.
