Maximum Numbers of Portal Roles

Hello,

we need to generate almost 2400 Portal Roles.

Will the portal still work with such a number or will there be any problems?

We are planing to generate the roles with xml and already found a solutions.

But we are not sure how the portal will react on such a number.

Any ideas whether the portal can handle this number of portal roles?

Hi Philipp,

As already mentioned above, there is no limit as to how many roles you can create in the Portal (as far as I'm aware of). The number of roles available in the Portal will not icause any problems to your Portal.

However, the roles assigned to a user or users, will impact on the Portal performance. Your user's navigation of the Portal will be derive from the Portal roles assigned. The above suggestions are good awareness points for your Portal performance and Portal role maintenance.

You can create roles as manay as you want. i don't thinks i will create the problem for protal, but it could be the problem, where you find difficualt to mentain those roles.

Hi Phillip,

1.Keep your roles/worksets light and not too deep as it may affect the performance

2.Limit the number of roles the user has, or use the "Merge ID" feature to collapse multiple worksets/roles in order to reduce the navigation hierarchy .
