Hi All,

We are facing an error while executing the depreciation calculation. As per the business requirement we have applied the OSS note 92925 in our system ECC 6.0 and all went well for the first year ending as this all happened for the first release of the project and later on after the second release go live the system is behaving in a different way, the OSS note which we have applied is not working and we are getting the planned depreciation values incorrect.

Can any one let me know what is causing the problem.

*The note as below*

< MODERATOR: removed. don't post OSS notes in the forum in this manner.>

Thanks and Regards

Hi Paul,

The legacy asset transfer done - 93762.00 on 20.09.2008

Posting happened in the system now

Period Additions Depreciation

P6 93762.00 -9376.20

P7 7639.82

P8 -1736.33

P9 -1736.33

P10 -1736.33

P11 -1736.33

P12 -1736.33

-

-10418.00

As per the oss note the Asset depreciation has to be calculated from the following month of the Acquisition which means that the depreciation has to be calculated from Period 7. As there was already a posting of 9376.20 amount of depreciation posted to the asset to knock of that amount the system is calculating the amount of 7639.87 (9376.20-1736.33).

And we are confused why is the system is behaving in such a way.

Thanks and Regards

Sri

Hi Sri,

The depreciation start date is the base for the real depreciation start date!

The value date is based to determinate the depreciation start date based on the period control you used in the depreciation key (is only not the case when you have activated Dep. to the day in the depreciation key)

Hi Sri,

with the Asset Explorer you have a function "display depreciation calculation". Please use this function. If you have an annual planned depreciation of 10K, and from the legacy system you take over already 9,6K posted depreciation in period 6, then this is either wrong in ERP system, or wrong in the legacy system. You can check in the asset explorer which parameters are used for calculation (base value, depreciation percentage and period factor).

And the main question now is: what is correct? And this question has to be answered by you. Is 10K planned annual depreciation correct? If yes, your legacy data is probably wrong. If not, please check what you would expect, and where in the displayed trace the system calculation is different to your (legacy) calculation.

Regards,

Markus
