MDGF - Key mapping API could not determine local business system ID

Hello,

I am configuring MDG which is embedded in a SAP S/4HANA system. MDG and the S/4HANA backend system are using the same client.

I want to replicate cost centers from MDG to the backend system (same client) and therefore I have duly followed the steps identified in below document in order to allow that replication: https://archive.sap.com/documents/docs/DOC-49372

However, when I try to replicate cost center, I face a replication issue:

"Key mapping API could not determine local business system ID"

Message no. MDG_ID_MATCH_API_BS011

Hence my question is: are there some additional technical pre-requisites for replication configuration?

The error message asks me to either maintain SLD or use a BAdI. However MDG is not connected to any other systems. Are those configuration points still mandatory?
