Data Provider can't hold reference to Query View

I have several data providers to which I have assigned query views in 7.0 BEx Analyzer (Excel). Every time I refresh my workbook, these data providers are re-assigned to the underlying query.

This doesn't seem right, but SAP support is telling me it is intended functionality. I wonder why I can assign a query view if it is not retained.

My ultimate goal is to simply sort results by the contents of a key figure column.

Let me know if you are successfully using query views in your data providers to confirm my intent should work.

I am facing the same issue. The system is on SP 12.
