PC 2.5 vs.PC 3.0

I have a couple of Process Controls questions for you for a client of mine that is thinking about starting a PC project in the near future.

1. Will hardware that has been sized for PC 2.5 be sufficient for PC 3.0?

2. How easy/hard is it to upgrade from PC 2.5 to PC 3.0, and do you have a project/task/resource plan that would cover this upgrade?

3. Do you have an example/standard Project Plan for a PC 2.5 installation and configuration project?

Hi Simon,

1. The hardware that has been sized for PC 2.5 will be sufficient for PC 3.0.

2. Upgrade from PC 2.5 to PC 3.0 is supported for sure. As long as customer follow up the migratiion documentation, there should not be an issue. At the moment, it is too early to project for the project /task/resource plan. This information will be available when PC 3.0 is released. You should plan it similar to normal SAP system upgrade.

3. It depends on what kind of scope that customer would like to implement. For a pilot, SAP consultant team has provide a service for 2 weeks timeframe for installation and configuration. For a production system, it depends on the scope of the implementation. If you are interested in getting the full information, you could contact SAP consultant manager Alam Khan.

it's too early to say at the moment but what i guess is

1) No need of extra hardware but some configuration or sizing may need to be updated but that would be included in SAP notes or user guides. so nothing to worry. you don't need to purchase another system for sure.

2) Yes whenever a new product is supposed to be released, a lot of internal upgrade testing is executed by Quality department also every thing is documented and necessary information is published for customers. Nothing is easy nothing is hard it's just how you plan your upgrade. If you follow the user guides or migration guides it would be easy for you to plan your tasks.

3) Yes go to service market place and look for user guides installation, pres installation and post installation guides, there is a lot of resource available. Also you can search for SAP Discovery System using which you can evaluate GRC products as well. For more information please search on SAP website.
