hi

An International Article Number (EAN) (or Universal Product Code (UPC) in the United States of America) is an internationally standardized number uniquely identifying a material. It always refers to a specific unit of measure or type of packaging such as a pack of ten pieces or a box. For each unit of measure defined in a material master record, you can assign one or more EANs and specify packaging data (such as dimensions, volume, and gross weight).

The EAN here always refers to the base unit of measure, as does any gross weight or volume that you enter.

To enter packaging data (such as dimensions, volume, and gross weight) for the EAN for the base unit of measure, choose Additional data -->Units of measure. You can access this function from all user department screens. Any values for gross weight and volume that you have already entered on the Basic Data screen for the base unit of measure are displayed on the screen that appears. You can now enter all valid units of measure for the material. For each unit of measure, you can specify an EAN or EAN category, and also packaging data. The EAN for each unit of measure on this screen is the main EAN.

Allows you to switch between different views:

· Categories

Besides the base category already assigned at header level, additional categories from other hierarchies can be assigned to the individual object here.

As an individual object always has the product type Material and always belongs to an object family, only those categories can be entered that are also assigned to the product type Material and, if assigned an object family, with the same object family as the base category.

· Units of Measure

Set type for entering units of measure for an individual object.

The base unit of measure for individual objects is Piece (PC).

You can maintain gross and net weights, volumes, and dimensions (length, width, height) with the relevant units for the individual object.

Alternative units of measure cannot be maintained.

Hi,

Gross Weight

Gross weight expressed in the unit of weight specified by you in the Unit of weight field.

Use

The system can use the gross weight at a later stage, depending on what kind of capacity check you run, to check storage bin capacity for warehouse management purposes.

Net Weight

Net weight expressed in the unit of weight specified by you in the Unit of weight field.

Hope this helps.
