Experts,

When we explore ERP Customer UI in MDG - in order to leverage the Contact Person UIBB functionality we are getting the following error message:

" Enter a value for attribute Grouping" which is referring to BU Grouping in the data model.

1. How to get rid of this error message?

2. Basic functionality difference between Customer UI vs ERP Customer UI?

appreciate your response.

Hi Alexander,

The ERP Customer UI requires a more strict setup of the customer/vendor integration (CVI). Kindly check transaction MDGIMG => Master Data Governance, Central Governance => Master Data Governance for Customer => ERP Customer UI (Alternative to the Customer UI) for further details. Usually the error message related to an invalid or incomplete CVI setup.

The ERP Customer UI reduces the complexity of the Customer UI. It offers a comparable UI w.r.t. the backend transactions for customer master data maintenance (XD01, etc.). Nevertheless, it also takes away flexibility and functionality that might be required in your project:

- You cannot maintain multiple addresses or industry sectors

- You cannot maintain other relationships than the contact person

When deciding which UI to use, you should also consider that in S/4 HANA, the business partner is always the leading object for customers and vendors. If there are any plan for the future to use S/4, I would rather recommend starting a new MDG project with the full customer UI instead of the ERP customer one. With that, both MDG and S/4 would behave in a similar way.

Best regards

Michael
