Help: Generic Articles and Variants in Purchasing Contract

We are investigating the use of Contracts/Scheduling Agreements (ME31K), we are using Generics & Variants. As it turns out we cannot get Generic Articles to behave similarly as they do in PO's whereby the Generic article is entered in the transaction which then explodes into all its variants.

Anyone gets any solution? Thanks.

    Hi Steven,

I really wonder whether the functionality which you are asking exits now.

Instead if you do a F4 (help) in the ITEM OVERVIEW screen and choose VARIANT OF A GENERIC ARTICLE tab and enter the name of the generic article, will display all the variants. Then you can choose what you require in the screen.

Will this be any close to the solution, which you are looking for? Do let us knw.

Thanks Raja, well the way you mentioned is search help.

What we need is all variants would be auto populated when enter generic article like within ME21N.

We pretty much sure this function is not supported in contract by SAP standard, just wonder if anyone has come cross the same requirement and made progress by any kind enhancement or user-exit.
