SID Entry is missing in the SID table of a characteristic in SAP BW infocube

sid-issue-zasgt-idf-webi.pngHi,

When we drill down by an infoobject in one of our BEx query, Query is getting closed abruptly with an error that saying that "3 SIDs from characteristic xxx are missing in SID Table". I am attaching the screenshot of the error we got in WebI report - SID_Issue_ZASGT_IDF_WebI.png.

We had followed the below steps to fix this issue (mentioned in Note# 1989324) and this issue gets fixed for that moment but comes again after few weeks for the same SPO,

(1) Deleted all the data from the SPO Object anad also deleted the dimension table entries

(2) Re transported the SPO objects from DEV system

(3) Loaded the data again in Production We had also redesigned the dimensions in the SPO and we are not using any custom program to delete our master data.

In fact as a general best practice, we do not delete master at all in our environment. This is the SAP recommended process but we keep getting those SID missing issues with different info objects even after following the steps. We need your help to fix this issue permanently so that we don't get it again.

Can anyone help me in knowing the exact root cause of this issue. I also raised an OSS msg with SAP and they keep on saying that deleting master data is the only reason for this issue which I have not done.

Regards,

Balajee SK

    Hey there,

From my perspective, there are two possible reasons for that:

1 - Somehow the SID was deleted from SID Table, even though transactional data was still in use in an infoprovider

2 - When sending the transactional data into the infoprovider, the SID was not created at all

My recommendation is to monitor your system, try to identify if the issue starts after a transactional load, or the number of entries in SID table changes for unknown reason.

Furthermore, you can run RSRV tests after your MD loads to make sure your infoobject is still consistent.

    BR.

    • Hi,

It's hard to say. Beyond BW, the DB might be cause as well.

To evaluate it, a reproducible example is necessary, where you perform the load, and then SID is missing.

This will prove the SID is not being inserted.

      BR :)

    Hi Balajee,

We are facing the same issue after SPO is implemented, could you please share if there is any further info from SAP or any solution to solve.

Your input is very much appreciated, thanks.

    HI Sugan,

I have raised an OSS msg# 424006 / 2016 SID Entry is missing in the SID table of a characteristics and SAP had suggested me to run the program - ZSAP_TAB_COUNT_MON that is explained and attached to OSS note 2248964 - Diagnosing unexplained additions or deletions to database tables. Now I have scheduled this program for every 24 hours to monitor the number or rows in the SID table of my characteristic that has SID errors.

So still there is no permanent solution for this issue except to delete and reload the data in the specific SPO partition cube that has SID issues. I created a copy of my original cube and performing all these tests on that cube as I cannot risk waiting on the fix for the issue keeping my original cube with SID issues.

    Regards,

    Hi Balajee,

We have the same problem. Somebody knows how to resolved this issue?

I tried to resolved with RSRV but I couldn´t, because the system did not nothing.

    Thanks and Regards!
