Question: can the MRP-run create planned orders that respect the minimum lot size (material master), if the original independent requirements have consumption w/o assembly (MTO)?
I have noticed that the minimum lot size is ignored depending on the requirement class/type of the planned independent requirement. For example, I see that planned orders with independent requirement types VSE (of strategy 50) and VSEV (of strategy 60) do not respect the minimum lot size, until the moment that there is a customer order matching the planned order and a purchase requisition is created, respecting the lot size.
Does anybody know how to solve the problem? In our company, the created planned orders are used as a forecast to the vendors.
Therefore planned orders should consider minimum lot size.
Thank you so much!
Hi,
Normally in MTO scenario, Lot for order qty lot size is used. Please explore the possibility to use this lot sizing procedure.

Hello
Please consider the following note, which provides the explanation about
to this behavior of the lot-size, when VSEV requirements are used:
125498 - MRP/Docu: Planning segment and lot-for-lot order quantity
The following section of the note describes your scenario in detail:
"The planned independent requirements for a material are in a separate
planning segment (planning strategy planning without final assembly,
requirements type VSE, VSEV).
You enter a rounding value or a rounding profile or an lot size that is
not exact in the material master.
Material Requirements Planning:
In Material Requirements Planning, planned orders are generated for the
planned independent requirements. The lot size settings (such as fixed
lot size or minimum lot size) are also not taken into account."

Hi Caeteno. Hopefully this thread isn't too old and you get a notification from this question 🙂
I read through that Note. Where it says 'Sometimes the FLS or Min LS is required...because of the dependent requirements'. What about when it is required for accurate capacity requirements? The system will not generate accurate capacity requirements when the planned orders are lumping all of the volume into 1 planned order. If I have a monthly PIR for 100,000 lbs. but I always produce the batches in lot's of 5,000 lbs., my capacity requirements will be assuming setup of only 1 order. When in reality, when that customer order comes in for 100,000, I'm going to be setting up 20 orders...not 1. Hope this made sense. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Kevin

Ahhh. My apologies. That makes sense. Thank you for letting me know. I opened a new question here:

I would love to hear your thoughts/suggestions. I appreciate your time, sir!
Thanks!
Hi all,
I tried following settings:
Material master:
- Strategy 50 - Planning without final assembly
- Lot size EX
- Min Lot Size and Rounding Value (=200)
OMI4 customizing:
- MTO Lot Size: "1" Lot-for-Lot with rounding for lot size EX
Still the MRP run will deliver planned orders with lot size < 200.
Is there something else I could do?
Thank you in advance for the support!

Dear,
Make-to-order strategies should always be combined with lot-size key EX (lot-for-lot.Rounding values , minimum , maximum lot sizes, etc. should not be used. If you use they have no effect due to the make-to-order properties of these strategies.
You can have for MTO Strategy 50, at the max you can have Rounding Values.
If your requirement can be fulfilled with Rounding then you need to maintain the below settings.
Transaction : OMI4
MTO Lot Size: "1" Lot-for-Lot with rounding.
Hope it will help you.
