I would however like to see an example configuration of a key figure used to store the weights. As typical the weights would be repeated. How would this look in a planning book/worksheet.

You need to create the custom key figures to store the weights time-dependent or independent.
While running forest Weighted Moving Average model considers those weights and forecast generated based on planning horizon.
