BI 7: Process flow of Modelling (Step-by-Step)

Former Member

Good day

I am a bit confused between the process to follow to create new datasource, Infoproviders, objects, transformations etc. 3.x and BI7....

We recently upgraded to BI 7. I am doing my first development in BI7. I have created a master data Datasource with DB connect and activated it... but what is next, the InfoObject creation, InfoSource, transformations???

I have not been to the delta course and cannot find something on SDN relating to the step-by-step procedurs.

Your assistance will be highly appreciated.

As Matt already indicated, we have [forum rules|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/home/rulesofEngagement] and if someone repeatedly misuses them and ignores all the warnings and plays games with the points system, then we eventually delete their ID.

I do not understand what you mean Julius, please explain?

What Julius means, is that the person in this thread now marked as "guest" has had their account deleted for copy and pasting information from SAP Help, or elsewhere, without giving credit to the original author. This is known as plagiarism, and is generally considered unacceptable.

Hi,

1) In your Source System tab, rite your FF source system and click "display datasource tree"..

2) rite click your concerned Application component and click "create data source". Mention the rite type of DS. i.e transaction, att, txt as per the FF .csv file created.

3) "extraction" tab provide the path of the .csv file. Do not forget to make "data format" as .csv and little relevent setting around it.

4) "Proposal" tab click "load sample data"

5) "Preview" Tab click "Read Preview data", it will ask for activation.

6) Activate it.

or

a) Design the Cube

b) Design the flat file Data Source

c) Test the preview of Flat File Data Source

d) Create Info Pack on Data Source

e) Right Click on DataSource say Manage to see the Data

f) Create Transformation by right clicking on Cube :- Transformations are created between Data Source and Data Target say Cube here.

g) Create the DTP and load the Data

. Goto the flatfile source system.

2. Right click on application component ->create datasource.

3. In the extraction tab, Give path of flatfile, separator etc.

4. Goto Proposals tab->load example data->select the header if you have one.

5. Goto the fields tab,it will ask you if you want to copy, say yes.

6. Specify the infoobjects that the columns correspond to or else the type and length of data and press enter.

7.Activate the datasource.

8. Preview the data to check if everythings fine.

Hi CJ,

In BI 7.0 try to avoid using Infosource concept here.

First create info area

Next create your info objects

Next create transformation, and load data upto PSA by use of info package.

Next create your data target, then create a DTP(data transfer process) and link it with your transformation and finally load it into data target.

Hope it helps.
