MSG files from GOS, can not be opened/is downloaded without the .msg extension

Hi experts

I have an issue with opening MSG files from GOS in Microsoft Outlook

We are using a SAP Fiori app for travel requests - we are as a part of this process attaching files to the travel request, these files are all stored in our content server through SAP Archivelink.

We are able to open these msg files from the Fiori Application, but when we try to open these files in SAP GUI from the GOS in PR05, it downloads the file with the name “TR” (the name of the repository) but without the .msg extension.

If I try to open an xls file, it downloads it with the name “TR.xls”. We are using the Documentclass “*” in order to make sure the several types of documents can be attached - and it is working just fine, with the exception of the msg file type

Do any of you have any pointers on what to look for, and have to make it work from within the GOS in SAP GUI?

Regards

Dear Morten,

This is an issue we already encountered and this is due to the way the SAP code is creating the attachment, and (when digging a bit deeper) to the way the Attachment Service is making use of the GOS functionalities.

Up to now we did solve this by making use of YAC (see http://www.znk.lu/index_files/YAC%20-%20Datasheet.pdf) as it allows to manage all type of attachments correctly in all SAP technologies (GOS, Fiori Attachment Services, Archivelink, etc.). You can also get more information by e-mailing info@znk.lu

Rgds,

Karim

Hi Monika

Thank you very much for your hint , I have just implemented the note, unfortunately it didn't help, the MSG file is still downloaded without the file extension
