Incoming Mail to SAP

Hi

We are testing SAP SMTP Service using example as per https://blogs.sap.com/2013/10/31/testing-sap-smtp-service/

We receive a syntax error when using someone@somewhere.com, but when we use <someone@somewhere.com> we are able to communicate.

Is there perhaps config or rules that need to be setup on the Exchange Server.
