Hello
I have alerts configured correctly in our system where when there's an error a message is placed in the alert inbox as expected. However, I was also expecting an email message to be in the SBWP (business workplace). Is this supposed to occur? We dont have sapconnect setup as yet, but we wanted to prepare until that occured.

Emails will be sent to SMTP if you have configured in SU01 for the fixed recipients

Hi,
In ALrtcatdef tcode under fixed recipient name wirte the user name. now go to SU01 and for that user mentioned the email address.
so it will send the alert message to that email id.
