VAT Reg.No. configuration for South Africa

Former Member

I am getting an error message saying "Entry of a VAT reg.no.is only possible for co.codes in EC countries" when trying to add VAT reg.no for South Africa company codes.

Is there any other way to add VAT number for South African company codes.

VAT Registration No. was originally meant for EU member countries only. Later, this field (T001-STCEG) was made available for input for Australia, Norway, Canada, Monaco, Switzerland and Liechtenstein via SAP Note Nos. 818383, 431425 and 1019504, though they are non-EU countries. You may want to send an OSS message to SAP if you want this field for South Africa as well. Or you can see the above notes and extend the source code correction mentioned in there to include country ZA (caution: this will get overwritten when you upgrade). I would say the best way is to contact SAP via an OSS Msg.

Good luck!

Here is the solution for this problem, which was given by SAP

The VAT Registration No.(LFA1-STCEG) field is reserved for European

countries, with the exception of Canada and others.

There are specific checks performed on this field that only relate

allowed countries.

By system design, the VAT registration number cannot be entered via

trans OBY6 for non-EU countries. However, the following workaround

can be used to accomplish this:

1) Turn ON the EU country switch (T005-XEGLD) in the Country Global

Parameters via trans OY01.

2) Enter the VAT registration no. in the Company Code Global Data

via trans OBY6.

3) Turn OFF the EU country switch (T005-XEGLD) in the Country Global

Parameters via trans OY01. This switch should be turned OFF

... but when you turn off the EU country switch back off again, you cannot enter a VAT number against your ZA customers ...."Country ZA is not an EC member" ... have I missed something here?
