RE: Message Server Does Not Start

Hello all,

I have a local J2EE engine installed locally (Dev WP). After a power-fluctuation (not sure if related) -- I wanted to start the engine again but I can't see the Message Server and Enqeue Server cluster on the SAP MMC control -- even if I force to start the local J2EE instance -- it gives me an error indicating that the local J2EE engine can't be started since the message server can't be reached.

How do I go about this?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jan

    Hi,

It seems that SAP instance is not able to connect to Message Server Port 3901.

Please refer following document to make sure that you have correct port number mentioned, wherever required:

    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b0f85bba-4c37-2b10-3eb8-e4d2c8b569de

Though this docuement talks about "how to change Message server port", it is good document to check all the locations where message server port number is defined.

Hope his helps you in fixing the problem.

      Hello Pankaj,

Thank you for the help. But the resolution is different.

To aid other developers/administrators encountering the same issue: you need to check the SAP Central Service "SCS01" is running. You can check it via Services console of your OS.

If not, do try to check if your .\SAPService<SID> password is correct or not expired. If you are sure that you have provided the correct password -- that is the other SAP Services are running as clue -- you need to un-register the service via startsapsrv.exe -- and reinstall the SCS01 service.

      Cheers!

    Hi,

Can you share the content of "dev_ms" file created in work folder?
