Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone faced this issue before and/or has a solution.
I have an infopackage that is loading from an ODS to an InfoCube. The ODS has close to 20 million records.
When I do a FULL UPDATE, i am able to use the Data Selection tabe to only filter certain criteria to be pulled over to my Cube.
However, when i try to select and do an INIT, all the fields in my DataSelection tab disappears. and i am forced to load all 20 million records from the ODS.
Appreciate any input or feedback.
Regards,
Gary.
Hi
Create a new Info package manuallu then it will prompt you to make data selections.
If you say 'update data in datatarget' then it will not prompt you the selections.

Create a new infopackage off the 8 data source and you will see all the fields

Hi Simon,
Already did that.
I re-generated the export datasource.
Went to Maintain Datasource. Made sure the Selection fields were checked.
Created a fresh new InfoPackage.
But as soon as i click on the Initialize radio button the fields dissappear. But if i change back to FULL, the fields return.
Very weird...
But I already have 2 infopackages
i have 2007 - 2008 data in the ODS
1 - FULL Infopackage - to load data for FULL 2007 and part of 2008.
2 - INIT InfoPackage - now i want to init the balance of 2008 to do a delta.
The thing is in the 2nd infopackage i.e. INIT infopackage, once i selct the Initializae delta process, the data selection disappears forcing me to reload all 2007 to date data.
If you do init without datatransfer there will be a datamart created till your last request in ODS.
"By datamart I mean the tick mark" which you see in ODS manage screen.
You can do full load to bring those data to higher level.
Your next delta will pull data from new records which come into the ODS (ie., anything above the previous data mart).
Hope this helps.

oh i see...
i thought otherwise as in the F1 for the init without data transfer, this is what is mentioned...
"If the delta process has not yet been initialized, but you want to test the delta upload, you have the option of simulating the initialization.
This runs the help entries in all the required tables in BW and in the source system, without loading any data from the source system.
In the monitor, you get a message telling you that a record has been loaded. The initialization-simulation request appears in all the data targets in which an update has taken place. However, this request contains only help entries. The simulation does not update any data in the data targets.
Dependencies
After you have tested the delta upload in this way, initialize the delta process"
