IDOC for loading serial numbers into SAP ERP

Several of our locations create serial numbers in external systems. We would like to load these into SAP relating them to the production order and batch of which they are associated. I have searched google, but have not been able to find any valid idocs. Nonetheless, I have to believe that SAP has a standard idoc to perform this function. Any ideas of what this would be?

Serial numbers are technically Equipment, you can create it with IQ01 transaction but usually those records get created just by entering the number when you do a goods receipt, or even they are created automatically in that moment: https://help.sap.com/doc/saphelp_sbo882/8.82/en-US/e2/2e94a0f9ad431eb0f92c8eec343a29/content.htm?no_...

So I am a bit confused what you are really trying to do.

How do you do this without Idocs? If you could describe this process then it might be clearer for us and we might be able to give you a suggestion.
