Hi,

We are planning to upgrade from BO4 SP08 to BO4.2 SP05 and just wondered on people's experience of doing similar e.g. have read that promotion management service is 'restructured'

We have currently the adaptive processing server services and just want to check services will be migrated as is when move from 4.0 to 4.2 SP05 or at least if are any differences to be aware of these as much as possible.

Also some users use the java plugin for richer web intelligence interface.

Have read the dhtml one in 4.2 SP05 has 'caught' up - wondered if people still using java plugin in 4.2?

Saw a sap note

2402730 - Promotion Management Service missing after upgrade

mentions promotion management previously handled both promotion management and version management but service split in 4.2

Oh, that little gem of creativity. 🙂
Yes, you will have to add the service to the original LCM APS post upgrade.
Not aware of any other services in APS that were similarly "restructured"
You can still use Java plugin in 4.2, if your browser still allows it.

You need to be careful if you're using any 3rd party tools or have developed any code using the SDK. The security libraries have all been replaced by newer, more secure versions. Any code written with the older version will not connect to 4.2 SP5 - it will have to be recompiled with the newer version of the SDK.

If you're using a 3rd party tool, you'll need to contact the supplier to get an updated version that will work with the new version of BOBJ.

Thanks for update. no sdk just use web intelligence and some dashboards with oracle client middleware to connect to an 11gr2 oracle database which looks like supported in pam document
