Sybase Power Designer 12 Upgrade

Hello,

We have a floating licence "Power Designer Studio Enterprise 12.0" for 60 clients.

The licence was retrieved from Sybase in 2006 directly. Now, after all the time, we have the need to update to the latest version, also since our University will rollout Windows 10 soon.

Since we did not buy with SAP, we don't have an SAP customer number. For downloading the update, this is required. SAP customer support could not help, because I could not provide an SAP customer number.

So my question is: Where can I get the customer number resp. the download of the newest version for our 60 licences?

Thanks!

Hello Markus,

1rst - Power Designer Studio Enterprise 12.0"

Ans:

This is a old version, then i'll advice if you want to upgrade to a new version to upgrade to

PowerDesigner 16.6 SP05

then up-to-date with PL03

To let you know that PowerDesigner 16.6 SP05 PL03 is the latest version now

2nd -University will rollout Windows 10 soon

This mean you need to check with the compatibility PowerDesigner 16.6 and Windows 10

Ans:

It is always recommended to check the SAP Product Availability Matrix (PAM) for questions about EOL / End of Mainstream Maintenance, for the latest information. " https://support.sap.com/release-upgrade-maintenance/pam.html "

PowerDesigner has the following minimum system requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 or Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or 2012 (32-bit or 64-bit)

3rd- What means change the hardware

Ans:

this mean that you need to re-host the HostID for your license and download a new license with a correct HostID

Also this link contains all documents for SAP PowerDesigner 16.6 SP05

https://help.sap.com/viewer/p/SAP_POWERDESIGNER

Download and install release via the SAP Support Portal. " https://support.sap.com/home.html"

Let me know if it's clear

Regards,
Claude

Dear George,

yes, the software is from 2006. I don't know if we have a maintenance agreement - I don't think so, because we got the software from Sybase, not from SAP.

I am totally new to this - maybe I don't understand the licence terms correctly. My understanding was that there are free upgrades of Power Designer once you own the software - is that incorrect?

I only have a P-User ID. That's ok to raise questions, but not for downloading Power Designer :-/

Thanks,

Markus

PD 12 came out about 10 years ago. If you haven't updated it since then, perhaps you don't have a current maintenance agreement. If you don't have a maintenance agreement, you'll probably have to purchase PowerDesigner again.

Mind you, you've managed to get an S-user ID, otherwise you wouldn't be able to post in this forum. How did you get that S-user ID? I thought there were all linked to customer numbers?

Hi Markus,

If you did not maintain a maintenance contract with Sybase, nor SAP, you will have to purchase the software to get the latest software and generate the appropriate keys to take advantage of the new features in our recent releases. The most recent is SAP PowerDesigner 16.6 SP05 PL03.

-Matt C.
