Hi
In LTP normally we put the reqmt in MD61 , run mrp , check capacity and again change the reqmnt. So this is hit and trial method to arrive into a firm planning period.
But in stead of this, is it possible that I will enter the reqmt and system will propose a date after consideration of existing capacity to get the final product so that I will commit to my customer for a possible delivery date.
Or any other solution?
No, system will propose after running MRP w/o considering the capacity. IF yoyu are looking for that you need to go for APO.

BNR,
It sounds like you have a requirement for performing an availability check that will take capacity into consideration, but in R/3. As my learned colleagues have previously stated, R/3 does not offer this functionality.
What some people do is to create a forecast that is consistant with their capacity. Then, they activate the SD availability check against forecast. Not a perfect system, but it can work in many business situations.

Dear Rajesh and Brahmankar
Thanks for your response. Regarding the issue I am looking forward a sloution in R3 only. I know this kind of issues are addressed on APO, but the users insisting in R3 as APO is not there.
Can we think of some round about solution which may not be 100%?
Or can u please explain if LTP can be used by entering some reference sales order or WBS element.

Dear,
R/3 does planning without consideration for capacity situations
while MRP runs with APO it takes Capacity issues into consideration. MRP in SAP R/3 Core does not, it assumes infinite capacity available. (MRP only looks at material availablity.)
For your requirementyou need to go for APO.
