Issue while opening an Excel file in Portal 7.0

Hi,

We have Portal 7.0 in our company and KMC is widely used. One particular excel file which is stored in the documents folder pertaining to a Collaboration Room is throwing the below error when the user tries to open it:

Sorry, we couldn't find C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\YD2PC25I\*FILE NAME*.xlsx. Is it possible it was moved, renamed or deleted?

This message comes in a pop-up window with an OK button. Also, the same file is getting saved/downloaded without any errors.

Has anyone ever had this problem? If so, how did you resolve it?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Rohit

    Hi,

It is a Temporary Internet files, Is it possible that someone has cleaned the browser caches?

    Regards,

    Hi Rohit,

I believe the cause of this behaviour is connected to the issue described in SAP KBA 2343961 - Edit Locally ActiveX fails with File could not be found.

Can you try turning off Protected Mode for the browser as described in this KBA and test if it resolves the issue?

    Kind regards,

    Cathal

    Hi,

Thank you for responding to my query.

The root cause of the error was that the file name was too long.

Once shortened, there were no errors encountered while opening the file.

    Thanks,

    Rohit V
