Hello
My customer is using a 3rd party tool for Payroll, they would like to bring the Journal entries . Is Webservice a right approach or excel upload a right approach. Can some one explain how the Web service works? Is it a direct connectivity from 3rd party tool to SAP with no manual intervention? What are the pre-requisites to use Web service as against using Excel upload
Thanks
Srini
.
Thanks Manasa and Thomas,
I agree ,but starting with excel upload and later moving onto Webservices would be a throw away work for now, which is a waste of time and money. Hence exploring Webservices. Thanks for the link Thomas I read thru the list of Webservices API in ByD looks like I don't see one for Payroll . see the link below

Can you provide more details on what kind of webservices needed for payroll?
Thanks
Srini

Hello Srinivasan
As stated by Thomas it depends on business requirement on whether to use excel upload or Web service.
You can refer to Help center Document "Web service" to know the basics on how a web service works.
You can check the service "
ManageJournalEntryIn" for creation of Journal entries.
Thanks & Regards,
Manasa

Hello Srini,
the question is what is easier for you to use, and effort considerations. If the Excel solution is enough (few employees, no problems in handling), I would recommend to start with this. If you want to automate, you may also go for the webservice solution, but this means some effort. In the end, you can get an orientation by the examples issued by my colleague knut.heusermann , like Create ByD Sales Orders Using Web Services.
Definitely, if you are unfamiliar with webservices, start with the Excel upload.
Best regards,
Thomas
