Hi all,
We are currently on SAP BW 7.5, SP05 and therefore all Infoobject maintenance is now carried out via BW Modelling tools in Eclipse/HANA studio.
One thing we are not able to maintane or find a solution for is to change the Short Description on a Infoobject.
When maintaining Infoobject via SAP GUI and RSD1 we where able to change the short description and also set if Short or Long description is default when using the infoobject in queries.
We have many Standard BI content Infoobjects where we want to change the Short Description to suite our needs, but in BW modelling tools this is not possible anymore.
Does anybody have a solution for this?
We had the same question and opened a message to SAP. Their response is that its coming very soon in BWMT 1.17.
Here is their response:
we will ship a new option to maintain long and short texts with the next
version 1.17 of the SAP BW Modeling Tools. You can then also select which
description shall be visible in BEx clients. Please refer to the delivery
schedule note 1944835 for further information on when
exactly the version will be shipped.
Please note that in order to activate this functionality you also need to implement note 2410184. The note will be released together with version 1.17.

Hello,
There is no "Short" and "Long" Description for an InfoObject maintenance anymore from a BW-MT perspective, it's just "Description".
The SAP Note below has further information.
2376307 - Change to description of InfoObject has no effect on short text in back end
In the case of future changes to the description of an InfoObject using the SAP BW modeling tools, the description entered in the client is also adopted for the short text of the InfoObject. If the description is longer than the 20 characters allowed for the short text, only the first 20 characters of the description are transferred to the short text of the InfoObject.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Sundeep

Hi,
Are you using the WebDynpro based InfoObject Maintenance - SAP First Guidance – complete functional scope (CFS) for SAP BW 7.50
Maybe also your BW-MT are not supporting the function - SAP First Guidance – Implementing BW-MT as the new SAP BW Modeling Experience
Best Regards Roland
