Hello,

Multiple and complex BOM may have an impact on performance in the applicaiton and whould be a consideration for your implementations.

You can have as many levels as you want but the Cost and Weight Roll up and other functionality which are required in a typical manufacturing environment do not exists.

BOM table in B1 has no level defined. Which means you can have as many levels as you want as long as your performance is ok. BOM table just hold parent and child relationship. A child can have its child. It would be better if you could minimize your BOM levels. Otherwise, to get a BOM structure report will be a big challenge.

Hi Bongani

I don't recall seeing a limit published anywhere, but I would assume that database size, complexity, system response, etc. would play a roll. The problem will be more on handling the production side, as there will be a logical sequence of production you would need to maintain. For example, you need to convert some raw materials to a semi-finished product and then use that semi-finished product (and possibly more raw materials or other semi-finished goods) to produce the next finished or semi-finished product. SAP will not limit the order or sequence of production in any way. However, if you are not allowing negative stock , the system should warn before attempting to produce an item for which a prior BOM's production has not yet been run. If not, problems with quantities, average cost, etc......

How many levels do your require? Can you give me more details on the specific requirement so I can better understand and guide you.

Kind regards
