Can some one tell me when to do the ALE configurations in the implementation project as in ASAP , and are the configurations done between production servers or development servers, how do we go about the client numbers user ids in such a situation..?

When do we upload the legacy data in the implementation project?

Hi,

First of ALE concept is used between 2 SAP servers and mainly used for exchanging master data between the 2 systems. In real time when a company is having multiple SAP servers and there are some common materials, customers, vendors across company in different SAP systems, I want all those master data to be part of all the sap systems, i cann't ask my users to replicate the same data from 1 SAP server to the other sap server in real time.

So we use this configuration to transfer the master when ever there is a change in SAP server, the same has to be replicated in the other sap server as well to maintain consistency across the sap systems in the company.

For development purpose exchange data between to development servers, for testing the similar configuration will be in test servers and finally the integration has to happen in production server.

While doing the ALE configuration in SALE transaction itself you will give the complete set of details of the target server. In the RFC port you are mention the user id and password of the target server there.

For doing the ALE configuration you need to the system details of the target like IP address, User ID, Password and client number from your target server guy.

That's how the things happen for doing the ALE implementation.

Thanks,

Mahesh.

hi

Data migration is done when we are switching from leagacy sytem to SAP and as per SAP conventions data load are first done in development server, then integration/quality server and after the analyis is over and happy with the data loads it is finally done in production server

cheers
