COI Investment data reading

if the AFD Investment data has to be read thru 'Totals' tables does it require that all ECC entry for investment need to have the Percentage of investment, Investee fields to be filled in? Can the system read the 'ECC Investment data' with out these fields?

Is there any other way to populate these fields when reaching from ECC to BI/BCS?

Is there any other additional fields to be captured in ECC for Investment entries other than above two fields?

Just one addition.

Investment/equity data, usually are cumulative. You provide the Investment dat one time and the system will know about it and not requiring data each period.

Hi Eugene,

May I ask, if the investment data is already captured in RFD (thru journal entry posting in GL module), is there any possibility of double investment data will exist in BCS (after extraction using LDS)?

Providing that the source of investment data is taken from AFD.

Thank you

Hi Rina,

From your question I assume that LDS reads AFD, right? In that case I do not think that investment data might be doubled. The system either reads such data from RFD or from AFD, not from both.

In contrast to it, Equity data, that migth be read from both sources, really might be read twice.

Hi Eugene,

I really need your advice on my AFD things. Hope you can help

Now my Location Values of AFD are as follows:

Read Investment Data From : Additional Financial Data

Read Equity Data From : Additional Financial Data

Read Equity Holdings Adjs From : Additional Financial Data

The user is only performed "Impairment Test" for the goodwill.

So I only select : "Extraordinary Amortization of Goodwill & Extraordinary Amortization of Negative Goodwill" per method.

My question is, for first consolidation, what should I put in AFD manual data entry as first step to record investment, equity & the goodwill? Will the system calculate the goodwill automatically or we need to manually entered journal entry for impairment test?

Providing that the holding company owns 73% of its subsidiary.

Thanks a bunch

Rina,

With the settings you indicate, the AFD for investments and equity should be the same as the ledger balances for these items. Goodwill will automatically be calculated and posted unless you indicate that the legacy goodwill is loaded in the COI settings.

In the case of 73% ownership, if the investment balance is not exactly equal to 73% of the subsidiary equity, then goodwill will occur (unless indicator mentioned above is selected).

It would be appreciated if you would please start new thread for future queries.

Investment data read from totals (not AFD) needs the percentage of ownership in the data. Without it, the percentage is determined to be zero. One possibilitity is to add the ownership percentage in BCS via manual entry separately from the source ledger data load. This may be done with quantities only and without values, however the breakdown category must accomodate this.

The investee is also necessary and may be populated easily by mapping the source trading partner from ECC to the target (BCS) investee. I've done this several times without a problem using conditional mapping for the investment item.
