Unable to check out BPM project - request list of files to be checked in

I am unable to make changes to a BPM Process graph. I get the error

Modification Not Possible / The project is not in DTR, but there are readonly files!

We have a BPM / Process Development project that has been added somehow to the Development Infrastructure (it was a while ago, and so exact steps taken are lost).

From the dev infrastructure list, I can navigate to the SC, select the project DC, right click choose "Sync/Create Project" -> "Create Project" and the project will be downloaded to my local workstation. I get one error which has me concerned - after the source is brought down and successfully built, there is an error about editing metadata: unable to access .dcdef file.

We are very new to NWDI/DTR, etc. This project was built by a consultant on a previous version of our environment.

What I want to know is: What are the various files that used by NWDI/DTR/DI, etc to manage the source code controls of a BPM project?

I have not found a really definitive answer, but the answer to this question was very helpful: https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/1784912

The issue is we are relatively new to PI/BPM NWDI development and just the process of having files local on our workstations vs coding ABAP on the server is causing some folks to get confused and do dangerous things. I'm late to the game and don't fully understand how we got to where we are, but not having anyone on site who understands how the dev tools work is painful.

nwdi is monster

usually you don't have to know what files are managed by nwdi, it is all done automatically.

.dcdef, are you able to find this file under the _comp folder of your dc?

I believe we have an .sca file of the project. What we want to do is properly utilize the source code versioning/management capabilities in NWDI (DTR, etc).

Hi Alex,

Do you have .sca file of the BPM project ? With that file you can do everything.

Thanks,

Ashish
