Execute Linux Commands from SAP on Hana DB OS

As you know there is a program which name is RSBDCOS0 to execute commands for App OS.

I would like to execute commands from SAP for DB OS, for example execute df -h command to know Linux(Hana) file systems sizes.

Is there any way to do this? or any article about?

Thank you.

    Hello Yasin,

Depending on what you want to know, the information could already be available at ABAP level.

If there is an SAP Host Agent running on the DB host and if this Agent was added as a remote host at the transaction RZ21, you would see hardware information from the DB host at the transaction ST06.

If you really need to execute OS level commands on the DB host, it would be possible but would require some setup.

    You would either have to:

    • setup a "password-less ssh connection" between the SAP servers and the DB host (the SAP KBA 2312909 can help; although it is not specific for HANA DB, the ssh setup is the same no matter the DB in use).
    • install a standalone gateway at the HANA host (using SWPM, navigate to "SAP NetWeaver 7.4" (or 7.5), HANA DB, Installation, Standalone engines, Gateway).

Then, create a TCP/IP destination at the transaction SM59, pointing to the HANA host. The "activation type" would be "start on explicit host".

    Hello Isaias,

You guessed correct. I would like to monitor Linux host.

I've applied steps according to note 2567804.

    Thank you so much.
