u can delete logs frm oraarch directory which r very old.if u delete all the files in oraarch directory ie.,recent archive files u will have problem with the startup of database or ur appserver so even if u take backup keep recent archive files for system startup issues.

if it is useful plz rewrd points

you can move those oraarch files on another disk nutil you back them up properly. this will free up space temporarily.

brarchive takes a backup of all offline redologs, then deleted them. this is done at OS level.

if you do not need them and you do not need archiving, a permanent solution is to disable archiving:

stop SAP first, then:

sqlplus / as sysdba

shutdown immediate;

startup mount

alter database noarchivelog;

alter database open;

exit

after this, you will never be able to do a recovery point-in-time, and won't be able to start online backups.

hi pugazh,

as i told u earlier there is no other go.u have to take backup of all the old archive files n delete from the oraarch directory.keep the fresh archive files(recent) in the oraarch directory so as to avoid startup problems of appserver or dbserver.

i think this gives u a better approach 2 ur problem.

feel free 2 contact on any issue.

rewrd points r welcome.

Hi,

you can remove all data from oraarc dir without taking backup,but in future if your system get down & you have no backup(database backup) than you will face a serious problem,thats why i am saying take backup of oraarc on any other storage media.
