Rookie question - Connect To SQL Server

Hi All,

My first post, I've been using Crystal for a few years but I've not yet been through the setup process.

I've just got Crystal 2017 installed on a new server which has a fully operational SQL db running on SQL lite.

I'm trying to connect it to the DB using Windows AD but no matter what system I enter it returns CMS host cannot be found on this network.

I've setup a second instance of SQL and set up a CMS in SQL and it produces the same error.

Someone please tell me what's blindingly obvious that I can't see.

Cheers

Hi John,

A few problems, we don't have Crystal 2017, what version are you using?

Crystal does not have a CMS, BusinessObject Enterprise does though.

Did you specify the CMS database when you installed BOE?

Or are you using "Crystal for Enterprise" (CRE) instead of "Crystal 2016" ("classic" Crystal)? They are two different programs with similar end results.

CRE is integrated with SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) or with Crystal Reports Server (CRS) and asks you to log in to one of those systems when you first run it. It has better connections to SAP BW, SAP HANA, and universes in BOBJ or CRS.

Classic Crystal can integrate with those two systems, but doesn't require it. It can connect to almost any type of database for which there is an available ODBC connection and allows "native" connections to a number of different DB's as well.
