settlement rule created when saving the project?

Suppose i've maintained the settlement rule of the project definition, whether it is possible to inherit the settlement rule when saving the project without using CJB2?

The scenario is this:

i create a project and manintain the settlement rule of the project definition. After saving the project, the under wbs have the same settlement rule as the settlement rule of the project definition, but the system status of these wbses is not settled. After i click wbs-edit-cost-settlement rule and i can see the settlement rule have already been maintained, when i back out,the system status of this wbs turns out to be settled.

It's weired. Anyone can give me some help. It's emergent.

Thanks.

this is not wierd, but standard functionality

the purpose of entering settlement rule at project definition level is to propse a settlement rule to the wbs

When you enter the wbs the propsed rule is automatically entered, if you then save the wbs it means that you have acepted the proposed rule and hence the system status SETC on the wbs gets set

Thanks.

but the case here is that the settlement rule of wbs is maintained ,the system status is not SETC.

I have to edit-cost-settlement ,after seeing the view and back, the system status is SETC.

i don't know why.

the value maintained is proposed only hence no SETC

I have to edit-cost-settlement ,after seeing the view and back, the system status is SETC.

i don't know why

when you go edit - cost - settlement you are basically accepting the proposal and hence the rule is confirmed and hence SETC

You are right.

but if my project has many wbses, then i have to edit-cost-settlement rule every wbs so that the system status can be SETC.

It's too inconvenient.

that is standard SAP

if you do not like it then do not use project defintion to propose settlement rules

there are other options like auto generation of settlement rules using CJB1/CJB2 with settlement strategy etc - so explore those

hi,

if you find it inconvenient to go to edit > cost > settlement rule for each WBS then you could use CJB2 or CJB1 (as long as settlement rule is maintained in the header.

however if you dont want to use CJB2 or CJB1 then when you create a NEW PROJECT DEFINITION, BE SURE TO CREATE THE SETTLEMENT RULE ALREADY. then each time you create a NEW WBS no need to go to Edit > Cost > Settlement Rule (CTRL F3) since it will automatically be inherited.

however for projects that are already created either do it manually (one by one per WBS) or use CJB2 or created a program for it.

Dear tiger wu,

Check any back ground jobs are maintained for tcode CJB2 and CJ8G..

Thanks.

when i run CJB2, the system has error message" no settlement rule is copyed".

so the system status of wbs is not SETC.

One issue i forgot to mention is that the first level WBS is statistical. I don't know whether it matters to this question.

hi,

in the settlement rule you maintained in project definition, did you restrict the validity period?

if yes, its possible the settlement rule is not valid for the period you input in CJB2.

another possibility; what kind of WBS do you have, since it statistical WBS, maybe it has no account assignment, check your config in "Determine strategy for Settlement rule" under IMG > Proj System > Costs > Auto and Periodic Alloc > Settlement > Settlement for WBS..

then in the strategy, make sure that the Acct Assign Category is not blank (i suggest use "4" or "copy rule of superior object".

even WBS is account assignment element or billing element check also the settlement strategy under same path..

hope it helps.

Hi,

Please check it that have you create it from scratch or copying to other operative project.

Because of if you create project thru' copy then system will get it from existing project.

Did you create the project referring/copying an existing operative project? In that case your settlement rules too get copied from the operative project.

Don't think without executing the T Code CJB2 any settlement rule would be created automatically.
