Getting java.lang.NullPointerException: null while upgrading to PI 7.1

Hi,

I am getting this error message during upgrade processs of PI 7.1 from PI 7.0 system, the actual error message is :

An error has occurred during the execution of the COPY_SAPJVM_ADDIN phase.

java.lang.NullPointerException: null

Appreciate if someone can advise ....

It is ->

java version "1.4.2.15"

Is this OK ?

PI 71. supports java 1.5,SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1. These include a new SAP Java Virtual Machine (JVM) based on Java EE 5

Thanks for your quick reply ...

As I understand 7.1 supports Java 1.5 version, but I am still in upgrade process and the upgrade manual or related notes does not mention this version is needed as a pre-qrequisite or to fix related to our issue. So,wondering is this relevant to fix our issue?

As of my current my upgrade process has stopped and the sdt Gui is wating for us to fix the issue...

Please advise...

Hi,

I am afraid the blog or the links did not help in anyway to understand whether Java 1.5 version is required or not as pre-requisite or any information related to the Upgrade phase specifically where we ran into java null pointer exception.

BTW, we were PI 7.0 SP14 and are upgrading to PI 7.1 along with SPstack 6 included in the upgrade.
