Access SAP Fiori Launchpad from VPN

Hi,

For on premise S/4HANA SAP Fiori, is accessing Fiori Launchpad limited to users within the company domain? The reason I asked this question is because currently for remote developers who are not on company's domain, they are not able to access Fiori Launchpad, even when using VPN. It is possible to access S/4HANA systems from SAP GUI through VPN but not Fiori Launchpad.

The only solution to access Fiori Launchpad now is using Chrome remote desktop version. But it's extremely slow and we can't copy paste into Chrome remote desktop. Any idea how to solve this accessibility issue?

Hi Liang,

Your architecture is embedded approach or hub approach ?

If embedded (backend + frontend in same system) : User will have to add the domain name and ip in host file (system32 - > drivers -> etc). Then this will work in vpn.

If Hub (separate frontend) : Does your frontend works in VPN ? If yes , do the same like above.

Tejas

Hi Tejas,

My architecture approach is embedded. Strange thing is when I ping the domain name, it doesn't return me the IP address. Even tracert / nslookup doesn't help. I have seek assistance from colleague within the network to ping the domain name, it returns an internal IP address.

I've added this IP address to hosts file and it doesn't work. Any other setup / configuration that is required from SAP point of view?

Regards,

Liang

After some investigation, this is an issue with network infrastructure. It is working fine with Cisco VPN but not with web VPN. Those in Cisco VPN are basically laptops that are connected to the company domain. Looks like SAPUI5 developers must either:

  1. Use client laptop that is connected to company domain,
  2. Use remote desktop, or
  3. Work onsite to gain direct access to client's network.
