enchance master data datasource

Former Member

hi all

my requirement is to Map the Material groups to GL accounts in BW using flatfile given by User & show the relation in existing reports

the approach i adopted is , built a DS , DSO with these fields & extracting the data from flat file. now i want to send this DSO data to the GL account Attributes DS.

However the Attributes DS is not having the Material group field in it.

So i need to enchance the master data datasource.

when i try to do this, it is asking me access key to modify the Extract structures. As a process in our project, we are not allowed to modify sap std stuffs.

in such case, how can i enchance the DS ?

is there any better way to do this ? my req is to upload the relation between GL acc & material group & show them in reports .

thanks

ramesh

Hi Ramesh,

You can just inset material group in infoobject as an attribute. If you have DSO, which has GL account and material group. Then you can have two transformations one which is a standar extractor from source system and second from DSO to fill up material group. If you are loading from flat file then infact DSO is not required.

hi , Thanks for the reply. i hv assigned points.

I defined the material group as an nav attributes of Cost center, & loaded the flatfile to the Cost center. now in master data i am able to see that material group as well.

thats good.

Thr is something looking confusing, in the report, if i add the material grp as a nav attr of Cost center in the columns.will this nav attr also show the material groups coming from MM. ?

thanks

Hi,

I believe your material group is not part of your cost center. If you are using cost centers for every POs then thats fine. Other wise you can use any object from MM in cube. One more thing is you need to diecide if material group should be placed as a part of transaction or master data. That depends upon how business process are set in your organization.

Hi,

the data is now loaded & all is fine.

But the prob now is that I need to show two different columns for the material group -

1. for normal material group for data coming from MM

2. for the Navigational attributes defined over Cost center used for mapping the 1:1 relationship defined in flatfile.

is there anyway through which i can merge both the Columns & show only one column for Material Group.

thanks
